GENDER AND SEXUALITY TRAINING FOR COMMUNITY WOMEN LEADERS

JMS organized a Gender & Sexuality training session for community women leaders to enhance their skills and to exercise their leaderships skills in the community, training was organized in Pothnal village at its administrative office. The session, facilitated by Sathyashree Sathya Sree, included study models and pictorial representations of the female pelvis and reproductive system, with a focus on explaining the menstrual process.

JMS hosted a three-day workshop from July 5th-7th, 2024, in Bangalore for 14 rural women worker leaders from Raichur district. Facilitated by Dr. Sathyashree and Dr. Premdas, the workshop focused on self-awareness, leadership, violence prevention, and self-healing. Through group activities, discussions, and exercises, participants explored their leadership potential and societal belief systems. women actively engaged in the learning process.

JMS initiated the constitutional Strengthening campaign in the local government schools in Raichur district in June 2024 using participatory approach. A total of 17 schools of four talukas(Manvi, Maski, Sindhanur, Sirwara), coming under 12 Gram Panchayats were focussed. About 2000 children of the high school participated. Also, in each of the schools, all the teachers too participated in the sessions.

DALIT WOMEN'S CONVENTION 2024

JMS women celebrated the Dalit Women's Convention on the eve of International Women's Day at its administrative office in Pothnal. The event aimed to uplift constitutional values, with 120 women participating from Manvi and Sindhanur taluks. Gram Panchayat Elected presidents, members, and select Sangha women were honored during the celebration.

JMS karyakarta organized public meetings in the villages within JMS constituencies, engaging with Sangha women to establish Valayasamiti (local committees) for each Gram Panchayat. This initiative aims to bolster local democracy, promote social justice, and cultivate robust leadership among Dalit women in rural areas and to amplify the voices of marginalized women.

JMS organized public dialogue in 15 panchayats, in the presence of Panchayat Development Officer and 200 sangha women from 30 villages . women discussed their grievances and collectively formulated a memorandum outlining their demands for urgent action from local authorities. This memorandum encapsulated the pressing needs of the communities .
